
A man is facing charges after a 15-year-old boy was allegedly sexually assaulted at a West Loop convenience store late Thursday night.
Authorities received a distress call around 9:30 p.m. and were informed by the teenager that he was approached and grabbed by a man inside the store located in the first block of West Jackson Boulevard. The victim managed to escape and alert the police. The suspect was apprehended by officers soon after they arrived at the scene, the Chicago Tribune reported.
As of early Friday morning, no formal charges had been announced, but police confirmed that the matter was under investigation by Area 3 detectives and that charges were pending, according to information provided by the Chicago Sun-Times.
The details concerning the identity of the suspect or the nature of the pending charges have not been disclosed as the investigation continues.
