In a burst of urban violence that has become all too familiar, a young man's life was snuffed out in the streets of Little Village. Chicago Police Department sources confirmed to the media a grim scenario—the latest chapter in the city's ongoing battle with gun crime.
According to Chicago Sun-Times, the 23-year-old victim encountered his untimely demise in the early hours of Monday morning. Walking alone, he was targeted by an unknown assailant on the 2800 block of South Drake Avenue. With a sudden eruption of gunfire, the man was struck in the abdomen and leg around 3:30 a.m.
When law enforcement officers arrived at the chaotic scene, they found the young man laid out. Unresponsive, he was swiftly transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, where the 23-year-old was pronounced dead.
Detectives from Area 4 are investigating.
