An 18-year-old named Vernon Edwards, hailing from the 7100 block of S. Talman Ave., Chicago, has been slapped with eight felony counts of burglary, confirmed the Chicago Police Department. The offender’s rap sheet details a series of forceful entries into local businesses, where he's accused of pocketing U.S. currency.
The arrest came down on December 6th, and authorities have since connected Edwards firmly to a spree of similar incidents stretching across Chicago's 8th and 9th Districts. These burglaries, police say, took place earlier in the year, evidencing a pattern of crime attributed to Edwards. Despite the charges, he's presumed innocent until proven guilty under the law. A perusal of the happenings places him at the heart of burglaries dotting the city landscape, from West 55th to South Archer Ave. His next rendezvous with justice is slated for today at the courtroom on 2600 S. California.
Digging into the paper trail of Edwards’ alleged crimes, the Chicago Police Department release lays out a timeline of pilferages spanning from summer to fall. The pinpointed dates and locales read as follows: June 9 and August 22 on the 4200 block of W. 55th St., June 17 on both the 5200 block and 4300 block of S. Archer Ave., again on June 23, in the vicinity of the 900 block of W. 35th St., back-to-back hits on June 26 on S. Archer Ave., and finally, a September 17 burglary on the block of 6500 S. Pulaski Rd.
