
An 18-year-old man was found dead, the victim of a shooting, while seated in a car in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood on Friday evening. According to the Chicago Tribune, the young man suffered a fatal gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 9 p.m. in the 6000 block of South Laflin Street.
Police were called to the scene of the crime after reports of a person being shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim unresponsive inside the parked vehicle. A witness at the scene relayed to authorities that the shots were fired from a gray van, which was seen fleeing after the incident. However, as of yet, no one has been apprehended in relation to the homicide, and police are actively looking to unravel the details surrounding the young man's untimely demise. The WLS report highlighted that no other injuries were reported from the shooting.
The Englewood area, a locality frequently marred by violence and tragedy, is yet again the backdrop for a grim tale of loss. The Chicago Police Department continues its investigation into the murder, seeking to piece together eyewitness accounts and available evidence to track down the individual or individuals responsible.
