Tragedy struck two San Antonio families on Christmas morning, as they were forced to evacuate their homes when an inferno swept through their properties. The blaze, which was reported to have started in the 9100 block of Johnny Reb Drive, claimed the life of a family dog and left both homes with significant damages. According to KSAT, the fire began around 5 a.m. earlier today and quickly spread to the adjacent house due to strong winds.
As the San Antonio Fire Department battled the flames, comprising nearly 30 units at the scene, one residence—a one-story home, suffered extensive damage and was described as a total loss. "The second-story home was determined a total loss with significant roof damage," reported Fox San Antonio. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the estimated cost of damage is yet to be determined. Both families were displaced as a result, and sadly, a dog perished in the incident.
Neighbors banded together amidst the calamity, offering support and assistance to the displaced families. They were seen helping to salvage any belongings that could be recovered from the charred remains. The Red Cross was also on the scene, providing aid to those affected by the disaster. "No one was injured but one dog died in the fire," a spokesperson for the Red Cross confirmed to KSAT.
