A tragic family dispute in College Park culminated in a son allegedly shooting his father to death. As reported by Clayton County authorities, Michael Lambert, 41, has been charged with the murder of 56-year-old Daryl Holmes following an incident inside Holmes' residence on the 5900 block of Friar Court. FOX 5 Atlanta reported that officers discovered Holmes' body with gunshot wounds on December 13 after family concerns triggered a welfare check.
Clayton County Police had previously visited the home to quickly attempt to defuse a domestic disturbance between the father and son on December 12. According to Atlanta News First, responding officers had "provided remedies to resolve the dispute." However, their efforts only temporarily halted the conflict, which regrettably resumed shortly after.
The investigation into the fatal shooting led detectives to swiftly identify Lambert as the prime suspect in his father's death. He was located in Lake City on December 14, following a tip-off to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office. Lambert was then apprehended and charged with multiple offenses, including malice murder and the unlawful possession of a firearm, the latter stemming from his status as a convicted felon. News of Lambert's whereabouts and subsequent arrest came via a tip to law enforcement.
Lambert is currently facing several serious charges, including malice murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses. FOX 5 Atlanta detailed these charges after an interview with police confirmed Lambert's arrest. This grim incident underscores the volatile nature of domestic disputes and their potential to abruptly escalate into violence with irrevocable consequences. The Clayton County Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Holmes' tragic death.
