In a move met with support from the community, the Coon Rapids Police Department has advanced two of its own in rank. According to an announcement on the department's official Facebook page, Deputy Chief Adam Jacobson and Sergeant Dan Durette have taken their oaths, starting a new chapter in their law enforcement careers.
Jacobson, who climbed the ranks from his prior role as a Police Captain, brings a seasoned perspective to his new office as Chief. Similarly, Durette steps up from his beat as a Patrol Officer to take on more responsibility as a Sergeant. The ceremony, which took place earlier this week, was a low-key event that signified major career milestones for the two officers. "Congratulations!" heralds the Facebook post.
While the department has not made any further statements about the direction it will be taking under this new leadership, local eyes will be watching, the new Chief and Sergeant closely, with expectations mixed with hopeful anticipation for what's to come.
