The Chicago Police Department has launched an urgent search for 64-year-old Anthony Brown, who went missing after he walked away from the Belhaven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Brown, diagnosed with schizophrenia and dependent on daily medication, has not been seen since his disappearance on the morning of December 2, according to the Chicago Police Department. The search is intensifying as authorities and family members become increasingly concerned for his well-being.
Last seen at approximately 8:30 AM in the 11400 block of South Oakley Blvd., Brown was wearing green hospital clothing with orange hospital shoes, the police department stated. Efforts to locate Brown are complicated by his medical condition, which likely makes him more vulnerable in urban settings like the Howard Street Red Line train he was known to frequent. Officials are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings immediately to 911.
As the community rallies to assist in the search, details of Brown's last known whereabouts and his regular habits are being widely circulated across social media and local news outlets. Brown is described as an African American male with a light complexion, standing at 5'7", and weighing 143 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.
The Chicago Police Department's Area Two Special Victims Unit, leading the search, is appealing for the public’s help. "Missing suffers from schizophrenia and is in need of his medication. If seen please call 911 or contact the Chicago Police Department Area Two Special Victims Unit at 312 747-8274," implores the police statement. Community members have been asked to spread the word with the hope that Brown can be safely located to surely bring him back to the care he needs.
