Flames had been sighted at the building's rear, with damage concentrated in a bedroom and patio area, but thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
The blaze that broke out around 8 a.m. at the Grand Palms community complex was swiftly brought under control by firefighters, with one resident safely evacuating the premises, and now is currently displaced and is staying with family members, all of this unfolding as neighbors watched, the Pembroke Pines Fire Department worked tirelessly to extinguish the conflagration and address smoldering remnants. Crews were observed actively dismantling drywall to quell any hidden hotspots and thoroughly eliminate the risk of reignition, authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
In a separate but related incident captured on video by an onlooker, a ferocious fire engulfed a townhouse on Sabal Palm Drive, a cellphone video taken by a neighbor displayed the destructive force of the fire billowing out of the windows while the homeowner was out walking her dog. "Smoke was billowing out of her stairway and everything," Lisa Fox told Local 10 News, describing the scene beneath her own unit.
As the fire swept through the home days before Christmas, Sky 10 aerial footage showcased the severity of the situation with first responders on the scene working diligently to combat the flames, and a Local 10 News crew captured the aftermath revealing a gutted top floor with exposed structural beams and the charred remains of what once was part of a serene residential area. "It was horrible," said Adriana Manzato, in an interview with Local 10 News, "I've never seen such a thing so close. It was scary and sad." Authorities continue to probe into the origins of these fires as the affected residents seek solace with relatives during the investigation.
