Homegrown Atlanta hero, rapper T.I., played Santa Claus to the less fortunate in his city this holiday season. Marking the 8th year of his Harris Community Works Holiday Caravan, T.I. brought gifts and good cheer to women and children in need, as reported by Atlanta News First.
Joined by local sports giants, the Atlanta Hawks, the Grammy-winning artist doled out Hawks tickets, team merchandise, and an all-out shopping spree to the Next Level Boys Academy, a diversion program with the goal of keeping bright youngsters out of the penal system. T.I., never one to fly solo in his philanthropic missions, was joined by Congresswoman Nikema Williams at My Sister’s House, a lifeline shelter for homeless women and their families. Greeting them were not only toys for the kids but also Visa gift cards for the moms to bring a slice of holiday magic to their families. T.I. told Atlanta News First, "When you’ve been blessed as I am, it’s important to give back to those who may need a little extra assistance."
Supporting these local initiatives, T.I. understands the value of fostering hope and offering a second chance. With a diploma in hand, he helped at the graduation ceremony for the Project Pinnacle Diversion Program, empowering first-time, non-violent juvenile felons with a fresh start. As stated by Katrina Dantism, director of Program Support Services at the Atlanta Mission, when kids receive Christmas gifts from community partners like T.I.'s Harris Community Works, "it allows our children to feel safe and dream child-size dreams," according to an interview with Atlanta News First.
