Livermore's night patrol officers netted more than they bargained for during a routine traffic stop last Friday, apprehending a 60-year-old felon for multiple firearm and traffic violations. According to the Livermore Police Department, the stop happened near First Street and Trevarno Road when they flagged down Michael Silva's Dodge pickup truck for having expired tags around 11.30 p.m.

After running a quick DMV check, authorities discovered Silva was cruising with a suspended license due to a prior DUI. The bad news for Silva didn't stop there, with police delving deeper and unveiling his status as a convicted felon. In a vehicle inventory conducted by Livermore PD, an extended magazine and a handgun cunningly concealed were uncovered.

Officers found a 30-round extended Glock brand ammunition magazine filled with 9mm rounds. Further exploration led to the discovery of another 10-round 40-caliber Glock brand magazine packed with 9mm rounds, alongside a Glock 9mm handgun hidden behind the vehicle's air vent.

Subsequently, Silva was slapped with charges for possession of the large capacity magazine and ammunition, possession of an unidentifiable firearm, and carrying a loaded firearm, not to mention the charge for concealing a firearm in a vehicle and driving with his privileges revoked. The Livermore resident was transported to the Santa Rita Jail following the discoveries made by police.
