A tragedy struck a bustling Atlanta street yesterday morning. A man was shot and killed in the popular Ponce de Leon Avenue NE area, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta. According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers were called to the 1000 block near Moreland Avenue after receiving a report of shots fired around 9:30 a.m.
The victim, a man found with gunshot wounds near the sidewalk, was swiftly attended to by Grady EMS. Despite the quick response, he succumbed to his injuries later at Grady Memorial Hospital. The Atlanta police, in the shopping center across from where the incident happened, told WSBTV that the area was near notable businesses, including Urban Outfitters and a movie theater.
As of now, the identity of the man has not been revealed as homicide investigators continue gathering evidence at the scene. The shopping center, busy with the usual flux of consumers, was cordoned off for some time as a part of the investigation process.
