Gunfire disrupted the calm of a Northwest Atlanta neighborhood yesterday as a 49-year-old man was shot in the leg at a residence on Sunset Avenue. The Atlanta Police Department reports that officers were called to 514 Sunset Avenue NW shortly before 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, where they discovered the victim with a gunshot wound.
The man, whose identity has not been disclosed by authorities, was found alert and conscious, despite his injury. Emergency services quickly transported him to the hospital for medical attention.
Atlanta's Aggravated Assault Unit took charge of the scene, piecing together the sparse clues in an attempt to understand the events that led to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing as detectives work to collect evidence and ascertain a motive, while it remains unclear if they have identified any suspects.
Authorities are calling for the public's assistance in this open case, urging anyone with information to come forward. The Atlanta Police Department is keen on hearing from witnesses or individuals who might hold a fragment of truth that could complete the puzzle of another life touched by the cold hand of gun violence.
