A Miami-Dade woman, identified as Destiny Lenai Johnson, has been charged with arson and attempted murder after setting a man and his car ablaze during what started as a Tinder meetup at a Kendall hotel. According to Local 10, the first encounter between Johnson, 25, who used the name "Tiny" on Tinder, and the unnamed man transpired without incident on November 16, where they smoked marijuana but did not engage in sexual activity.
Their subsequent rendezvous on November 25, however, quickly deteriorated when Johnson, carrying a jug with a flammable liquid, demanded money for car repairs. After the man offered her $60 despite his frustration with her request, she exploded with rage, dousing his car's passenger seat and, inadvertently, himself and herself with the substance. "You guys are out to get me!" Johnson screamed before igniting the liquid with a lighter as the man frantically rolled on the ground to extinguish the fire that engulfed his arm and soon his car, as reported by Thompson’s News.
The victim, in sheer self-defense, drew a firearm but later holstered it after Johnson fled the scene. He approached the hotel's front desk, pleading for them to call 911. Less than three hours following the chaos, law enforcement received a report of a "naked Black female with burns" who was near the initial scene, claiming she had "blown up a vehicle."
Authorities later confirmed the woman was Destiny Lenai Johnson, currently without a home, who was then taken to HCA Florida Kendall Hospital for her injuries. She alleged to the police that she had been a victim of sex trafficking and was offered $60 for a sexual act, which she claimed to have rejected. Since then, Johnson has been detained at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and is being held without bond facing serious charges including attempted murder, arson, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, as per Local 10.
