Miami streets witnessed a cold-blooded robbery turn violent nearly three months ago, leading to the recent arrest of suspect Robert Rodriguez. As reported by Local 10, the 34-year-old man allegedly lured the victim into his car in Miami's Allapattah neighborhood with a plan to hang out, only to pistol-whip him and forcefully take his gold chain and iPhone 14.
The arrest, which occurred Wednesday, followed the incident that took place on September 7, when Rodriguez, together with two women, convinced the man to meet. Sitting in a dark-colored Toyota Corolla, Rodriguez struck him several times in the head with a handgun. In a desperate attempt to leave the car, the victim found himself trapped as one of the women locked the door from the inside, according to a detailed arrest report obtained by Local 10.
"In fear for his life," the victim eventually handed over his possessions to Rodriguez and managed to escape. He later picked Rodriguez out of a photo lineup, leading to his capture by Miami Police Department's Felony Apprehension Team. Rodriguez now faces charges for attempted robbery with a deadly weapon and is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center without bond. The victim, after running back to his house, his mother called the police to report the crime, as per the statement he gave to authorities.
While the relationship between Rodriguez and the victim remains unclear, this case highlights the lurking dangers on the streets of Miami. The intense effort to put Rodriguez behind bars exemplifies the crucial role of police work in curbing the menace of violent criminals. The victim's ordeal indicates how quickly a supposed friendly gathering can spiral into a life-threatening situation, as detailed by TS2 Space. Arrested on Wednesday around 4:30 p.m., Rodriguez, who now awaits the due process of law, may serve as a warning to those dabbling in the underworld of violent robbery.
