An Uber driver in Miami was reportedly involved in a violent confrontation with a passenger early Monday morning, resulting in injuries to both individuals. According to Local 10 News, the driver, Solange Pace, who is also known as an artist and a yoga instructor, claimed she had to "fight for her life" during the incident which took place near Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 82nd Street.
The trouble began when the passenger became verbally aggressive and pressed Pace to increase her driving speed. Pace started recording the altercation on her cellphone, at which point, the passenger's anger heightened. "She was very angry, and I guess I was her next target," Pace told Local 10 News. The driver stopped her vehicle and asked the passenger to exit, which she refused, leading to Pace removing the passenger's belongings from the car.
The conflict escalated to a physical confrontation, with Pace suffering a twisted knee, neck injuries, a broken breast implant, and multiple cuts to her face. "I started seeing blurry because she was kicking me on my chest. That's the moment I am telling her 'I have heart problems and I need to make it home to my kids," Pace recounted. Following the incident, no arrest was made, as the police were unable to determine the primary aggressor, as reported by Sanders News. The case has been forwarded to the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office for further review.
Officer Mike Vega of the Miami Police Department urged rideshare drivers facing similar situations to turn off their vehicle, walk away, and call the police. The officers on the scene could not readily identify who initiated the violence,, hence, an arrest could not be made on the spot. Nonetheless, this does not preclude future arrests or charges once the state attorney’s office conducts their investigation. Vega explained to Local 10 News, saying, "Just because an arrest is not made on the scene doesn’t mean an arrest is not going to be made or charges are not forthcoming."
As the inquiry continues, the passenger's identity remains undisclosed, and attempts to reach out for comments have been unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Pace has indicated her intention to meet with prosecutors to pursue the matter further. "I have to, I have to, I mean, I have nothing to hide. What happened is what happened, and I wish this doesn’t happen to anybody," she affirmed in the statement obtained by Local 10 News.
