Big flavors are coming to downtown San Diego as pastry chef Adrian Mendoza sets to open Knead, a new cafe and bakery in partnership with the University Club. The venue is slated to debut on the ground floor of the Symphony Towers complex by mid-2024, as noted in an Eater San Diego article.

With a stellar culinary background that includes stints at Spago and leading pastry positions across San Diego, Mendoza is no stranger to sweet success, and according to San Diego Magazine, alongside general manager Brian Lee, the duo has combined their expertise to whip up Knead Bakery. Offering a range of baked goods, including fresh baguettes, sourdough, muffins, and coffee and juice, to customers from Monday to Friday, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

While the University Club remains members-only, the forthcoming bakery will open its arms to all, serving artisan delights such as Mendoza's specialty croissants and a full coffee program, as confirmed via Eater San Diego.
