
A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car in San Jose, marking the city's 45th traffic-related death this year. The San Jose Police Department is currently probing the incident, which occurred on December 8 at around 5:07 p.m. on Almaden Expressway, just south of Camden Avenue.
A Toyota sedan, driven by a juvenile male, was heading north on Almaden Expressway when it collided with an adult male crossing the street outside of any designated crosswalks. In a statement provided by the San Jose Police Department, the victim was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Despite the tragic outcome, the young driver stayed on the scene to fully cooperate with authorities.
The collision has pushed San Jose's traffic fatalities to a new number, signifying the 47th such incident and the 26th pedestrian fatality this year, as reported by police.
The identity of the deceased, yet to be made public, will be released by the Santa Clara County Coroner's Office after they have confirmed and notified his next of kin.
