In an entanglement reflecting a narrative of distrust, a Chicago cop has found herself on the wrong side of the law after authorities charged her with a felonious scene she allegedly scripted. Officer Zondranika Williams, 37, was relieved of her powers following an accusation that she cried wolf with a 911 robbery report that was pure fiction.
Williams took center stage Tuesday before a Cook County judge. Strikingly, Judge Ankur Srivastava allowed the accused to walk free while she encircled the date of trial, December 5, as reported by the Chicago Tribune.
This narrative unfolded earlier in the year, when the stage was set in September, and Williams dialed 911, claiming the lead role as a victim of armed robbery—a story investigators would later unravel as a drama of her own making. The plot twist led to her arrest this past Tuesday, and she hit the crescendo with a disorderly conduct charge, as stated by WLS.
Amidst the chaos, CPD stripped Williams of her powers, suggesting a department keen to castigate those who breach the sanctity of the badge. Having joined the force in June 2015, it’s a grim departure from the annals of her service.
