During the State Board of Education's meeting in January in Sacramento, his achievements and upcoming journey will receive recognition.
Representing not just his local domain but the span of California, Aaron's accolades extend beyond the classroom. Serving as both a student board member and a beacon for neurodiverse youth, his selection comes on the heels of his demonstrated leadership and community service. "I am proud to have Aaron, who currently serves as a student board member on our board, represent San Diego, our county, and our great state in the Senate Youth program," expressed Dr. Paul Gothold, San Diego County Superintendent of Schools, in statements obtained by the San Diego County Office of Education.
The program, backed by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation, is not just an honorary title. It gifts selected students a $10,000 scholarship each, along with a fully covered trip to Washington, D.C. Aaron's upcoming itinerary for the March event includes interactions with government officials at the highest echelons, providing a practical lens into the workings of American governance.
At the heart of Aaron's ethos lies a drive to reshape education for neurodivergent learners, channeled through his nonprofit 'Students For Attention'. Serving as the first neurodivergent school site council chair at Canyon Crest Academy, he participates in roles that have him introducing San Diego to international representatives and discussing crucial topics at the United Nations. His achievements have earned him a spot among the 100 global recipients of the Rise for the World Global Award and the Yale Bassett Award in recognition for his influential work.
