
A fatal collision in San Jose has taken the life of a female pedestrian, marking the city's 49th traffic-related death of the year, the San Jose Police Department reports. The accident occurred on December 18, when a black Honda sedan struck the pedestrian as she walked on the sidewalk of the 6200 block of Santa Teresa Boulevard; the black sedan was emerging from a shopping center when the collision happened, resulting in grave injuries for the unnamed pedestrian.
The woman was rushed to a local hospital with critical injuries, and on December 24, after a valiant fight, she succumbed to her wounds. The driver of the vehicle involved in the incident stayed at the scene and has been cooperating with the police to shed light on the circumstances leading up to the tragic event.
This incident signals a somber milestone as the 47th fatal collision and 27th pedestrian fatality in San Jose for the year 2023, according to SJPD's official announcement. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office is tasked with revealing the identity of the deceased after notifying her family.
The San José Police Department's Traffic Investigations Unit led by Detective O'Brien is actively soliciting any information that might assist in piecing together the events of the accident, they are reaching out to eyewitnesses or individuals with relevant details are urged to contact the department or to submit anonymous tips through P3TIPS mobile app or on the Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers website where informants may be entitled to a cash reward should their tip lead to an arrest.
