A tragic shooting in Sandy Springs has led to the arrest of two individuals, including a man now accused of murder. The Sandy Springs Police Department responded to a call at the Waters Edge Apartments on Roberts Drive on December 9 afternoon to find 19-year-old Aden Stone shot in the chest; he later died on the scene.
According to the AJC, the proceeding investigation quickly zeroed in on a white Chevrolet Equinox seen fleeing the area after the incident. The vehicle, with three occupants, was stopped under suspicion by Sandy Springs officers. Inside the vehicle were 21-year-old Mackieda Tugba, 28-year-old Devontay Trimell Coleman, and another woman, all of whom had visible blood on their hands and, in Coleman's case, on his clothing.
Coleman, who initially provided false identification to the police, has been named the main suspect, according to warrants detailed by 11Alive. During the investigation, it was revealed that Coleman lied about his identity due to an outstanding warrant for a traffic violation.
With the situation now unfolding into a pursuit for justice, police are piecing together the events that preceded the fatal incident. Witnesses spoke of the quick escape post-shooting, and a gun was found in the Equinox, which both Coleman and Tugba admitted to possessing.
