On Christmas Eve in South Boston, two sheep took to the streets in a daring escape from Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish. According to the Boston 25 News, the woolly runaways were part of a live nativity scene when they bolted around 3 p.m., leading to an unusual police chase.

The pursuit saw one of the sheep weaving through traffic and dodging a Boston Police cruiser, footage of the escape went viral after being captured on a bystander's cell phone video, with the scene unfolding near Fr. Songin Way, the black and white sheep—they didn't evade capture for long as officers responded en masse to herd them back to the church in time for Mass said police.

Meanwhile, the Boston Herald reported that in addition to the sheep roundup, Boston Police had more serious incidents over the holiday, including two separate stabbings in the early hours of Christmas morning, the injuries sustained were non-life threatening, and no arrests had been made by Monday afternoon.

Father George of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish humorously speculated that perhaps the sheep wanted to see the city though their tour was short-lived, in a statement obtained by WHDH, he expressed relief that the animals were recovered unharmed, saying, "We're happy, they're happy, they feel in a strange place, everything's new; maybe they wanted to see the city, they didn’t get much of a chance, maybe next year."
