The Chicago Police Department is piecing together the puzzling events that unfolded at around 4:30 a.m. Monday, when the roar of a Nissan sedan violated the hush of North Michigan Avenue's 700 block, NBC Chicago reports. The vehicle careened into the entrance of the upscale retailer, but the planned heist hit a snag: the culprits couldn't breach the fortress, which is Neiman Marcus.
According to the authorities, the gang made a quick escape without taking any items. The suspects fled the scene in a manner that could be compared to a Hollywood-style getaway. They left the Nissan behind and made their way eastbound along Chicago Avenue, as reported by WGN-TV.
Officials have reported no injuries from this attempted smash-and-grab charade.
As of now, no arrests have been made. Area Three detectives are investigating.
