A cunning caper went down at a Georgia Waffle House, where a woman allegedly posed as an employee, played the part for a couple of hours, and then made off with an undetermined stash of cash, according to Riverdale police. The impersonator slipped into a Waffle House cap and faked her shift on December 12, at the diner located off the 6500 block of Highway 85, before she finally busted open the register and snagged the money, officials detailed.

"The sneaky theft happened at a Waffle House location off the 6500 block of Highway 85 on Dec. 12," as FOX 5 Atlanta reported. Surveillance footage caught the cunning ruse, showcasing the woman in a the chain’s traditional workwear hat amidst her faux shift. Riverdale Police, who released the footage, are now on the hunt for the unidentified cash swiper.

In an attempt to nab the faux-flapjack worker, authorities have reached out to the public for assistance. "She came in dressed as an employee and spent about two hours there, She went in as if she worked there," Riverdale Police Chief Todd Spivey told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Though speculation hints at a possible previous employment at another Waffle House, it's confirmed that she wasn’t on the payroll of the location she targeted.

The Riverdale Police Department has taken to social media, posting, "Riverdale Police are investigating a theft. Do you know me? On December 12, at approximately 7 p.m., the..." followed by the image from the video showing the suspected thief.
