A pattern of armed robbery has emerged in the South. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Chicago's Grand Crossing neighborhood. According to a community alert from the Chicago Police Department, a succession of thefts has besieged the 003rd District.
Two incidents saw perpetrators brandishing firearms as they preyed upon their victims. The thieves demanded personal belongings, rooted through the victims' pockets, and vanished. The first of these robberies occurred in the 6000 block, the second not far beyond, in the 6100 block of the same storied road, on December 1 at 2:36 PM and 10:00 PM, respectively.
With the community on high alert, the authorities have sketched a narrow profile of the suspects: African American males, aged between the late forties and early fifties.
The police department implores the public to keep a vigilant eye. The public is urged to, "Always be aware of your surroundings," and "If you are confronted by an assailant remain calm,". Individuals are encouraged to remember the unique marks of the aggressor—be it a scar, a limp, or a defiant grin.
The Chicago Police Department asked that anyone with information dial 9-1-1 and remain on the scene until aid arrives.
