A 16-year-old male has been slapped with felony charges for his role in an armed robbery and an attempted armed robbery that occurred in December 2023, police said.
The juvenile, whose identity has not been disclosed due to his age, was arrested on January 30, 2024, and is to face one count of armed robbery and another count of attempted armed robbery. According to the Chicago Police Department, the teen was identified as one of the offenders who, on December 28, 2023, forcefully took personal property from a 52-year-old man at gunpoint in the 2700 block of S. Kedzie.
The accused is also linked to a separate incident on the same day, in which an attempt was made to similarly rob a 34-year-old man in the 4400 block of S. Archer. The police report details the juvenile's apprehension, occurring in the 1100 block of S. Hamilton.
Since placing the young offender into custody, he has been charged accordingly, though additional information on the case has not been made available thus far. These incidents are a stark reminder of the persistent challenge of juvenile involvement in serious crimes within the city's communities.
