
A suspect has been slapped with murder charges in the wake of a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a young man on Riverside Parkway in Cobb County, according to police reports. The Cobb County Police Department has charged 22-year-old Nijier Drakeford in the killing of 20-year-old Kenneth McGrew of Austell, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Emergency calls broadcast the violence on Jan. 26, around 1:30 p.m. in the 1300 block, with officers discovering the victim, McGrew, wounded multiple times by gunfire, medics fought to save his life en route to a local hospital, but his wounds were too severe, and he succumbed—this according to the officers' account as conveyed by WSB-TV.
Authorities, working quickly on leads, pinpointed Drakeford, a resident of Lithia Springs, as the alleged triggerman; detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with felony murder. The suspect was apprehended in Atlanta, in the early hours of the following Saturday morning.
