A 71-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life on the roads of West Boca Raton yesterday after failing to maintain control of his Harley Davidson. Harry Delaney, a Clocktower Way resident, was pronounced dead at Boca Regional hospital following a solo crash that saw him thrown from his motorcycle.
Delaney was heading west on Palmetto Park Road when he abruptly left his lane and struck the raised center median, as BocaNewsNow.com reported. The impact caused him to veer again, leading to hit the median a second time. It was this second collision that ejected Delaney from his bike.
The accident occurred around 11:40 a.m., according to a crash report cited by CBS12. Witnesses observed the motorcycle traveling in the inside lane before Delaney lost control. Investigators are still probing into why Delaney might have veered off the road in the first instance.
The motorcycle came to its "final rest" on the roadway, as police described the scene to BocaNewsNow.com. The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office continues to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. As the community mourns the passing of Delaney, further details about the cause of the crash remain forthcoming.
