Anoka County has just pinned a few more badges on Commissioner Jeff Reinert's chest. After the county board's first huddle of the year on January 2, they've hoisted Reinert up as their new vice chair, according to the county's announcement. Reinert's now the head honcho for the Airport Committee, the Finance and Capital Improvements Committee, the Intergovernmental and Community Relations Committee, and last but not least, the Parks Committee.

And if that's not a tall enough order for one local lawmaker, Reinert is also slated as vice chair of the Information Technology, and Human Services committees. He's stretching his wings as co-chair of the Anoka County/Blaine Airport Powers Board too. Not to ride the bench, he's in line for a spot on several other boards and committees that touch on everything from regional rail to mosquito control, and even the meting out of justice for the younger set.

Reinert, who's also taking the reins as the go-to guy for elections, reapportionment, and all the nuts and bolts of voter registration, isn't just a local show. He's bagged the first alternate spot for the National Association of Counties voting delegate and is an AMC District 10 voting delegate.

From public safety to the hum of computers, he's dabbling in nearly every aspect of county governance. With the metaphorical key to the county in hand, Reinert's set to drive policy across a swath of committees that can bring change right to residents' doorsteps. Remarkably, his role extends to regional efforts, with a seat on the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District Board and its executive committee, aside from rubbing elbows with county commissioners statewide on the AMC Board of Directors.
