Anoka County's own, Commissioner Julie Jeppson, has stepped up to the plate with a whopping number of committee chairs and vice chairs to her name. In the Jan. 2 board meeting, it was announced that Jeppson will helm the Transportation Committee, while also taking on the vice-chair role for an impressive array of committees, including the Anoka County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, Airport, Intergovernmental and Community Relations, and Management committees, as reported by Anoka County on January 8th.
Jeppson is also slated to serve on a laundry list of other boards and committees. These range from the Anoka County Extension and Human Services to the more niche Regional Economic Development Executive and Community Corrections Advisory Board. The district's interests are seemingly set to be well represented across the board, with Jeppson also actively participating in the Finance and Capital Improvements; Parks; Property Records, and Taxation; among others. District 6 might just start to quickly feel the effect of their commissioner starting to quickly make waves in the local political sea.
She's been also appointed as the Library Advisory Board liaison and flexes additional civic muscle as an AMC District 10 voting delegate. The community's voice in transportation concerns will be heard loud and clear with her presence on the Metropolitan Council Transportation Advisory Board and the heavyweight AMC Transportation and Infrastructure Policy Committee.
In a sweeping move, Jeppson also carries the district's flag to the Minnesota Advisory Council on Traffic Safety and the North TH 65 Corridor Coalition, where travel safety and infrastructure will be hot topics. Details regarding the full extent of Jeppson's new responsibilities give a clear signal: District 6 is about to substantively expand its influence under her diligent watch.
