Athens, GA saw a significant drug bust when nearly 9 pounds of methamphetamine were seized from a hotel room just before the year's close, law enforcement officials said. The apprehension took place at a hotel on Old Epps Bridge Road on Dec. 29, where officers also discovered a firearm during the operation.
The Athens-Clarke County Police Department, which, assisted the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force in the investigation, found a .38 caliber revolver along with the drugs, as per their report. Tyler Stalker, 40, and Angela Mosley, 43, now face charges for meth trafficking. Stalker, who has a history with the law, faces additional allegations for possessing a gun during certain crimes and being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Details shared by FOX 5 Atlanta confirm that both Stalker and Mosley were arrested at the hotel. The Athens-Clarke County authorities have not divulged much about the investigation, which led them to the substantial seizure, but they have made a public call for any related tips. Citizens with information are encouraged to reach out to the department's drug tip line.
According to Atlanta News First, the investigation into the trafficking of methamphetamine had been ongoing before culminating in last week's bust. With the arrest of Stalker and Mosley, authorities hit a nerve in the local methamphetamine distribution network, an intricate web that undoubtedly reaches far beyond the confines of this single hotel room. The authorities urge anyone with information to contact them at 706-613-3297.
