Late Thursday night, a thief saw an opportunity in their absence and took off with a fire battalion truck. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department reported the theft occurred around 11:30 p.m. on Cameron Alexander Boulevard. The firefighters, while quelling a serious blaze, were alerted to the heist by a witness who saw the theft unfold.
The Atlanta Police Department quickly issued a city-wide bulletin in hopes of recuperating the stolen vehicle. The fire truck was found abandoned on Harriston Street, with no apparent items removed from its innards. K-9 units combed the vicinity for the individual responsible for the audacious theft, but the suspect remained at large.
The Atlanta Police and Fire Departments are now urging any potential witnesses with information to step forward to aid in capturing the thief. In a statement obtained by WSB-TV, the police confirmed that nothing was stolen from inside the truck, and it remains unclear whether the vehicle suffered damages during its unauthorized joyride.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
