A dispute between roommates over blaring music in an Atlanta home erupted in gunfire early Monday morning, authorities said. According to a press release by the Atlanta Police Department, officers were dispatched to the residence at 1007 Fair Street SW around 2:08 AM, after receiving calls about shots being fired.
The arriving officers were informed by the victim that his argument with his roommate over the volume of the music had escalated violently. The roommate, whose temper was as loud as the music, reportedly fired gunshots at the victim. Having narrowly escaped harm, the victim recounted that the suspect had retreated to his bedroom and shut the door. No injuries were reported on the scene.
Despite several attempts, law enforcement could not make contact with the alleged shooter following the incident. The situation led to a larger response including Tactical Field Operators, the SWAT Unit, and hostage negotiators.
Once the SWAT Unit rolled in, a daring entry to the property was conducted, though, much to the surprise of the local community, the bedroom — once a seething hotbed of rage — was found deserted, with the suspect nowhere in sight. The Atlanta Police Department's investigation into the whereabouts of the suspect and the circumstances leading up to the shooting is continuing.
