Branden Barnes faces murder, aggravated assault and firearm charges in connection with the death of his 63-year-old mother, Diane Jones. She was found dead in her Harmony on the Lakes home with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. Authorities say Barnes rented a room at a nearby Holly Springs motel less than an hour after an argument with her, and officers arrested him there.
According to FOX 5 Atlanta, first responders found Jones at the home, and officers took Barnes into custody at the Pine Crest Motor Lodge.
Officer Matt Rice told FOX 5 that Barnes told officers outside his motel room he had hurt his mother. Rice said officers arrested Barnes after the conversation.
