Atlanta residents can expect a mix of clouds and sunshine this week, according to the latest forecast. As National Weather Service reports, today the weather in Atlanta will see a transformation from mostly cloudy to sunny with brisk northwest winds reaching speeds of up to 30 mph.
The clear skies aren't here to stay, however, with conditions shifting overnight. While temperatures will dip to a low around 31 degrees, the wind will calm slightly, gusting up to 20 mph. During Tuesday, Atlantans will revel in sunny skies once more, enjoying slightly warmer temperatures peaking near 56 degrees.
In the evening, however, there's a slight twist in the plot with a 20 percent chance of showers. The low for the night will hover around 40 degrees, and while the south wind switches to west after midnight, it will keep gusting, reaching up to 15 mph. The seesaw between sun and clouds will continue, with Wednesday promising mostly sunny skies and another round of strong northwest winds.
Temperatures at night will take a dip again, with the mercury dropping to around 32 degrees. Thursday and Friday are shaping up to have an uptick in warmth, with highs approaching 58 and 61 degrees respectively. While most nights are expected to be clear or mostly clear, shower chances are sneaking back into the forecast for the weekend. Come Saturday night, there's a slight chance of precipitation, and the cloudy-sunny tango will carry on through Sunday, with a 40 percent chance of rain and a high of 51 degrees forecasted.
