A Boston man facing charges for a New Year's Day rape and multiple assaults on police officers has had his bail revoked. Milthon Correa-Regifo, 45, is accused of raping a 26-year-old woman in a Bowdoin Street apartment and later resisting arrest from law enforcement authorities. According to Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden, Correa-Regifo was identified by the victim and showed belligerence when confronted by a State Trooper, as detailed in an announcement posted on the district attorney's website.

The incident began in the early morning as the victim, after being assaulted, approached a State Trooper near Ashburton Place. It was then when Correa-Regifo, who emerged from the apartment, was pointed out by the woman as her attacker. During his apprehension by the trooper and an assisting off-duty Boston police officer, he resisted and engaged in a violent struggle, spitting and attempting to bite the officers at the scene and later at Boston Police Area A-1.

Judge James Coffey set bail at $5,000 and revoked Correa-Regifo's previous release on an unrelated 2022 assault case. His charges include rape, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, indecent assault and battery, and assault and battery on police officers. Correa-Regifo is scheduled to return to court on January 31 for a probable cause hearing. During the struggle with law enforcement officers, Correa-Regifo reportedly caused minor injuries to several police officers.

DA Hayden stressed the severity of such incidents, despite no serious physical harm coming to the victim or officers. "I’m thankful that neither the victim or the officers sustained serious injuries, but clearly an incident like this has repercussions above and beyond any physical injuries for sexual assault victims," Hayden said, acknowledging the broader impact of violence beyond the physical.
