The Boston Police Department is making a direct pitch to locals. On Friday, officers from District A-1 parked themselves at the bustling TD Garden and North Station, neighborhoods dense with folks who might dream of a life in uniform, getting the word out about their latest recruitment drive ahead of the Massachusetts Civil Service Exam.
As the deadline for the exam application swiftly approaches on January 16, the department, being the first established police force in America, is actively seeking recruits who are enthusiastic about embracing the responsibilities of the thin blue line. This information is as per a recent post on their official website. "If you’re interested in a career in law enforcement and want to join the first established police force in America, go apply for the Civil Service Exam today," the BPD encouraged on their police blog.
This initiative is part of a continued effort by the BPD to reach potential candidates where they are, in terms of both geography and aspiration. As policing comes under increasing scrutiny amidst social dialogues about public safety and reform.
