The Boston Police Department is actively seeking new blood to join it's ranks. In an event hosted on Saturday in Roxbury, officers from the B-2 Community Service Team spearheaded a recruitment drive at The Base within the Melnea Cass Arena, coupling it with a College/Career Fair in efforts to attract potential candidates.
The drive is part of a broader initiative to bolster the force's numbers by inviting those with an interest in law enforcement to consider a career with the country’s oldest police force. The application deadline for the Civil Service Exam, an essential entry point for prospects, looms just days away—set for January 16, 2024. Prospective applicants were urged to "apply for the Civil Service Exam today" on the BPD's website.
A statement by BPD was posted on their official website, encouraging community members: "If you’re interested in a career in law enforcement and want to join the first established police force in America, go apply for the Civil Service Exam today." Interested individuals can access the application and get more information by visiting the BPD's recruitment page.
With community outreach a clear priority, the Boston Police Department hopes that initiatives such as these will aid not just in recruitment, but also in forging stronger ties with the communities they serve. The strategy appears to underscore a dual focus: to grow the department with dedicated new officers and to promote an image of community-oriented policing in the city's diverse neighborhoods.
