The local cops were out in force, serving up free hot cocoa and handing out gifts, as they aimed to foster a greater sense of partnership with residents.
The initiative, part of the BPD's regular community outreach, was particularly aimed to quickly establish connections with young people and families in the neighborhood. According to a statement on the Boston Police Department's official website, officers from the District E-13 Community Service Team dedicated their time to share in the traditional festivities of 3 Kings Day, which is also known as Epiphany and commemorates the Biblical story of the three wise men presenting gifts to the baby Jesus.
The celebration was marked by scenes of children with wide smiles, eagerly accepting wrapped presents and sipping on steaming cups of cocoa.
