The Fire Department is asking residents to help quickly clear out the snow-covered hydrants. Immediately following a snowstorm, firefighters will be out on the streets clearing the hydrants in their districts, but this takes time, according to a statement released through the City of Cambridge website.
Participants are encouraged to snap a "before and after" photo and send it to the Fire Department to showcase their efforts. The initiative also offers an opportunity for families to get involved, as the announcement includes a call to action for the younger city residents: "Get the kids to help too."
