In an inspirational turn of events, Glenn Jordan is set to rebuild his life at the very location where he narrowly escaped death. Over two years after the devastating Chandler gas explosion, Jordan plans to reopen his business, All American Eyeglass Repair, as reported by ABC15. Standing in the same spot that he was during the August 2021 blast, Jordan recounts the harrowing moment: “'This is Glenn with All American…' — I didn’t get it all out. That’s when the building exploded, you heard the sounds,” he recounted to ABC15.
The explosion was a consequence of a gas line leak and resulted in Jordan suffering extensive second and third-degree burns. His recovery was nothing short of remarkable, having spent a month in a coma and enduring countless skin grafts along with vocal and physical rehab. Jordan's resilience doesn’t just stop at getting back to work; he aims to also help others. He turned his recovery into an opportunity to give back by participating in a fundraiser for the Arizona Burn Foundation, where he performed over 2,100 pull-ups in 12 hours and helped raise $40,000.
In a related incident, a similar burst of raw force ripped through a Chandler strip mall earlier the same day. According to another report from ABC15, four people were left with severe injuries after an explosion led to a roof collapse. Stunned first responders and local authorities rushed to the scene, rescuing individuals and evacuating nearby residents and businesses.
Southwest Gas has reportedly cut off gas to the area and is working closely with first responders to make certain the scene remains secure. Ensuring safety remains their top priority as the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
