
A violent night in Chicago's Auburn Gresham neighborhood left a 28-year-old man dead, following a shooting incident that occurred early Saturday morning. According to the Chicago Tribune, the man was found unresponsive, lying on the ground with a fatal chest wound, shortly before 3 a.m. on the 8500 block of South Vincennes Avenue.
Responding to a report of shots fired, Chicago police discovered the victim pronounced dead at the scene. Found at the scene lying next to the man, a handgun was also recovered; however, no suspects have been apprehended in connection with the murder. As of yet, the streets of Auburn Gresham have not revealed a suspect, leaving detectives to scour for leads.
The man, whose identity has not been released pending family notification, adds to the city's ongoing struggle with gun violence. In a similar account reported by CBS Chicago, authorities confirmed that no one was in custody, with Calumet Area detectives leading the investigation into the shooting.
