A 15-year-old male has been charged with three felony counts of aggravated vehicular hijacking with a firearm, the Chicago Police Department reported today. The juvenile offender, whose identity has not been released due to his age, was brought into custody on January 23 by the Vehicular Hijacking Task Force.
Details provided by the Chicago Police Department account that the youth was involved in a series of carjackings that transpired on the morning of October 6th, 2023. It is alleged that he forcibly took possession of vehicles at gunpoint from multiple victims including a 34-year-old male on S. Rockwell, a 29-year-old female on S. Stony Island, and a 67-year-old male on W. 87th St.
The scheduled juvenile detention hearing will take place at 1100 S. Hamilton on January 24, indicating the ongoing legal proceedings against the teen who now faces serious charges.
The police state that the offender has been "charged accordingly" and remains in custody.
