Cambridge residents looking to handle permit business, starting February 5, the City of Cambridge Inspectional Services Department is shaking up its counter hours. According to a release on the city's official website, the goal is to provide a better service experience, and they're asking for your patience while everyone adjusts to the new schedule.
Those keen on getting their affairs in order early morning are in luck. Under the new regime, counter hours will kick off Monday through Thursday at 7 a.m., wrapping up at a brisk 8:30 a.m. Friday warriors can catch an extra session from 11 a.m. to noon, after the usual 7 a.m start. For afternoon business, Monday offers a generous 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. window, while Tuesdays through Thursdays are into a tight 2:30 to 3:30 p.m, time slot.
The revamp comes unannounced but not unwelcomed. The promise is one of efficiency and convenience — a perennial plea from a public perennially pressed for time. "These changes aim to provide more efficient and convenient service," read the city's announcement.
