An elderly person has been listed in "very critical" condition after a house fire tore through a South Side Chicago home on Tuesday afternoon. The blaze broke out in the Englewood neighborhood, with first responders rushing to the 5900 block of South Elizabeth Street upon receiving reports of the fire.
According to CBS Chicago, the Chicago Fire Department was able to extract the elderly individual from the burning residence. In what appeared to be a desperate rescue, doused in the relentless onslaught of fire and smoke, the victim was subsequently transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
