The family of Rondell Edwards, who was discovered deceased in his car in a Tamarac canal, is seeking the public's assistance to return his body to New Jersey. The discovery of the 28-year-old on Monday has left his relatives reeling and turning to crowdfunding to cover the unexpected financial strain of transportation and funeral expenses.
"We're just looking for some help in regards to having his body brought back to New Jersey," a family member said in a plea for compassion. This statement was captured during an interview as reported by WSVN. Meanwhile, three days after the grim revelation, Adina Alvarado, Rondell's mother, imparted her anguish in the same Zoom call, "birthdays, holidays, it’s gone," highlighting the void his absence will carve in the fabric of family tradition.
Questions linger regarding Edwards' unexpected disappearance prior to the tragic finding, with his fiancée participating actively in the search by creating missing person posters. It was deemed out of character for him to vanish without notice, adding to the shock when his vehicle was located submerged, with him inside. "He deserves to have a funeral because, no matter who you talk to, he was just a light for everyone," a family member recounted to WSVN.
In echoed sentiments, Alvarado also expressed the far-reaching affection her son garnered: "Everybody loved him. Whether it was his family or not, he treated you as family." As an investigation unfolds to determine the circumstances of Edwards' passing, the family concurrently focuses on the logistics of a homecoming for their loved one, a sentiment echoed in a video by Local 10. They have established a GoFundMe account and are grateful for any contributions, no matter the amount. "We just want to thank anybody in advance. Any little bit can help," a family member appreciated to WSVN.
