A man has been nabbed by the fuzz for allegedly robbing a Wells Fargo bank in Gainesville, a crime that had local law enforcement on their toes. Abel Aguilar, 26, was cuffed on charges including robbery, theft, and motor vehicle theft, according to the Gainesville Police Department.
The suspicion fell on Aguilar after he supposedly strolled into the bank, slipped a note to the teller demanding moolah, and bolted with an undisclosed amount of dosh, as Atlanta News First reported. The alleged bandit didn't just use his legs; prior to the robbery, a van was reported stolen, which police believe Aguilar used to skedaddle from the scene.
After a stint on the lam, the suspect was reeled in over at Suwanee, and now cools his heels in the Hall County Jail. The arrest was a group effort, with several other law enforcement agencies jumping in to assist the Gainesville police with the pinch.
Earlier reports from the incident described the then-unidentified perp as donning a green and black puffer coat, as stated by Hoodline. The Gainesville Police have been sifting through leads, trying to collar the suspect, with Lt. Kevin Holbrook remarking to AccessWDUN, "A white or Hispanic male entered the bank, presented a note demanding cash, then left the scene." The community was previously urged to cough up any info that could have led to the arrest.
Now that a suspect sits in custody, it appears the Gainesville Police Department's call for public assistance has borne fruit. Still, they remain all ears for any additional details that could shed more light on the case, sticking by their commitment to close the case with airtight diligence.
