Gilbert, Arizona was the scene of a series of aggressive crackdowns as police swooped in on Wednesday, rounding up a trio of teenagers linked to not one, but two brutal assaults that sent shockwaves through the community late last year. The arrests, sourcing from two separate incidents of teen violence, were confirmed by authorities with the arresting officers suggesting the horror had persisted in this sundrenched town for too long.
18-year-old Kyler Renner, 19-year-old Gage Garrison, and an unnamed 17-year-old found themselves in handcuffs, their young lives suddenly entwined with the heavy hand of the law. As reported by AZfamily.com, the cases in question date back to 2022, with one assault reported just earlier this month, while another lay dormant, wakening only when new evidence rekindled the flames of investigation.
That dormant case, involving a man brutalized by a group in a parking structure on Dec. 3, 2022, only regained momentum after police received a video of the alleged grand melee. The Gilbert Police Department solicited the public's assistance earlier in January, releasing images about the violence in hopes of identifying those responsible.
Yet, Wednesday's arrests weren't solely about addressing the terror in the streets. While investigators dug into the assaults, they inadvertently unearthed a den of narcotics. It marked the end of Travis Renner, aged 50, and 20-year-old Kiara Holsapple, who both got nabbed on drug-related charges, according to details from ABC15. Police stressed though, that the drug bust played no part in the violent acts plaguing the community.
