The man, who has not been named, was trying to stay warm and to charge his phone when he was approached and shot by the suspect, who then took off with his car. As the suspect tried to flee, the stolen vehicle ended up stuck in a snowdrift in a nearby parking lot, which led to the perpetrator abandoning the car. Gresham Police Department officers found the jammed vehicle but were unable to locate the suspect.
In the aftermath, detectives are currently urging residents and businesses in the vicinity to review any available security camera footage that may have captured the incident. Further details were provided by KOIN, indicating that authorities are continuing their investigation into the carjacking and are requesting public assistance in identifying the individual responsible.
The local community is reminded to remain vigilant and to provide any potentially helpful information.
